The district has worked carefully to ensure the proposed referendum will provide long-term value to students, staff, and residents.
1️⃣ If the operating levy is approved: A home with a median value of $250,000 in the district would see a property tax increase of $18.91 per month starting in 2026.
2️⃣ If the capital projects levy is approved: It would add a monthly tax increase of $4.83 per month, starting in 2026, for a total of $23.74 per month if both questions are approved.

MAPS is adding three new electric-powered buses—at no cost to district taxpayers—thanks to a $1.2 million state grant. This upgrade will help the district save over $100,000 per year in operations costs, plus savings on fuel and maintenance... all without removing any existing buses from the fleet! #FoundationsForTheFuture

❓Why is MAPS proposing a referendum now?
Moorhead Area Public Schools faces a serious funding gap. Last year, the district made $4 million in cuts -- and faces $5 million more in cuts next year without new funding.

On Nov. 4, district voters will consider a two-question referendum:
📘 Question 1: Operating levy to support staff, programs & day-to-day needs. 🚌 Question 2: Capital projects levy to support capital, technology & transportation needs. 💵 Together = $5.87 million per year to keep our schools strong.

⚖️ On November 4, district voters will consider both an operating levy and a capital projects levy. By funding different needs, the two levies support a balanced strategy to stabilize the budget and protect student success.
