Wendy Paulson retired after 31 years as an occupational therapist for Moorhead Area Public Schools. She is going to miss seeing students’ progress and their funny comments. She loved seeing how supportive the staff is of students and colleagues in need. In her retirement, she is looking forward to sipping on coffee, being a “grandma on demand” and learning new hobbies!

Kim Bergley retired from Moorhead Area Public Schools after seven years as a bus assistant. We are grateful for her devoted time and passion for getting our students to school safely. 🚌 Happy Retirement, Kim!

Congrats to 1978 Spud graduate Benjamin Dille who was recognized for his role in evacuating US embassy in Afghanistan. The honor was presented by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Norma Holland retired after 28 years as a home school liaison for Moorhead Area Public Schools. As a liaison, she went to students’ homes to connect with them and their families. She coordinated the Unity Conference at MSUM for the middle school, high school and alternative learning center. She values the relationships she made with students and families. In her retirement, she is looking forward to the little things, relaxing, reading, quiet time, and being with friends and family.

Scott Matheson retired after 33 years at Moorhead Area Public Schools. Matheson wore many hats during his years as a counselor at Moorhead High School. We are grateful for his many years of devotion to students. Happy retirement, Scott!

Shannon Rieder retired after 33 years at Moorhead Area Public Schools. She served in a variety of positions in her career including PEER teacher, Special Education teacher literacy coach and reading recovery teacher. Rieder remembers a special moment during a family-teacher conference when a parent thanked her for truly seeing her child. She will miss her colleagues and the funny observations her students made. In retirement, she is most looking forward to having the freedom to travel at any time with her husband and keeping an open mind to the possibilities of new challenges in the future.

Alice Swanson retired after 31 years of teaching physical education at Moorhead Area Public Schools. 🏋️She worked at Moorhead High School, Moorhead Junior High and Horizon Middle School. She was also the department chair for physical education. Swanson loved helping students gain confidence through her “Swanny expectations” to work hard and push themselves. Swanson will miss hearing students shout, “Swanny!” in the hall as they walked by. In retirement, she is looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild and living every day to the fullest.

Jodi Gramlow retired after 16 years at Moorhead Area Public Schools. Since 2005, she taught Early Childhood Special Education. Gramlow will miss the relationships she built with the children and their families and working with the amazing Early Intervention Staff. In retirement, she is looking forward to volunteering, writing and spending time with her friends.
