The Girls Golf Team competed in the Section 8AAA tournament at Headwaters Country Club in Park Rapids. Madi Hanson led the way for the Spuds at sectionals, carding an 81 and an 89, finishing 12th overall at 170. MHS wrapped up the 2023 season with a fourth place sectional finish.


For the first time since 2020, Moorhead Area Public Schools first through fifth graders participated in the Learning Bank Program in-person during the 2022-23 school year. An estimated 12,900 area students from 35 schools took part in the Learning Bank during the 2022-23 school year. In addition to partnering with the involved school districts, the Learning Bank also works closely with the venues and artists to be able to provide students with new fine arts experiences. Joel Egerdahl carries the ball up field during the Boys Lacrosse sectional quarterfinal against Becker on May 31. Egerdahl led Moorhead with four goals as the Spuds raced past the Bulldogs 18-6 to advance to the Section 8A semifinals. Moorhead opens State Tournament play Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. against defending champion Benilde St. Margaret.

Late in the 2022-23 school year, Moorhead Schools welcomed five teachers from the Philippines. Working with local partners, the district interviewed and hired Junalyn Zaragosa, Junnalie Ang, Romella Verdeflor, Josieren Galacio and Krissa Cajurao. Today is World Oceans Day! 🌊 Horizon fifth graders recently had the opportunity to take a trip to MSUM's Oceanarium and learn more about the life it sustains. 🐠🌏🐚 #WorldOceansDay #SpudPride


On May 11th, Horizon West hosted a Multilingual Family Night. Those in attendance enjoyed a pasta dinner and a short program about summer learning opportunities. Each family left with a brand new Lego set and deck of Uno cards, and an evening of connecting with the community! 🗺️

Over 300 students and community members attended the International Day event near the end of the school year. Together, they celebrated diversity and inclusion by bringing together MHS students' cultures through food, music, clothing and dance! 💃🥘🎭 #SpudPride





We are proud of Ondrea Cook, PEER teacher at Horizon West, and Mollie Moen, PEER teacher at Robert Asp, who have completed their Catalyst demonstration project, the highest achievement within the Catalyst program. Moorhead teachers are trained in Catalyst practices to promote safe and equitable classroom learning environments. Throughout this demonstration process, both teachers invited several colleagues to observe their instruction helping to create a larger culture of learning within their buildings. Ondrea and Mollie are teacher leaders and serve as outstanding examples for colleagues. #SpudPride


Jace Blythe scores from in tight during the Boys Lacrosse contest with Grand Rapids on May 23rd. The Spuds raced out of the gates with 10 straight goals to open the game and cruised to a 20-2 victory on Senior Night. Blythe had a hat trick on the day, as did Joel Egerdahl; Caleb Alderson led the way with four goals for Moorhead. The top-seeded Spuds will face St. Cloud in the sectional semifinals at home on Tuesday.
