This project was a major highlight of our school-wide Month of Service. Our students are learning that a little time and effort can go a long way—by creating these blankets, they are delivering more than just handmade warmth; they are sending "extra joy" to our community during some of the coldest months of the year! We are so incredibly proud of the compassion and hard work our students and staff showed to make this massive impact.
Way to go, Spuds! 🧡🖤

Last week in Mr. Hann’s class, teams had 18 minutes, 20 spaghetti noodles, string, tape, and one marshmallow to build the tallest free-standing tower. Creativity, teamwork, and lots of laughs—students loved it! 🍝

Today's theme is Sweater Weather — wear your ugliest sweater to school! 🧶❄️
Tomorrow is Mistle-Toes — rock your holiday socks and spread the cheer! 🧦✨

Don’t forget—tomorrow is Holiday Hair, Don’t Care! Rock a festive hair accessory or hat 🎩
Hats, bows, antlers, bring it on! 🎄🦌🎀

The countdown to winter break is on! ❄️⏰
Today our students chose comfy and enjoyed a cozy Pajama Day! 💤🧸
Don’t forget tomorrow: last names A–M wear white🤍, and N-Z wear red! ❤️

Please take a moment during winter break to clean your students winter gear and get rid of the germs! 🦠⛄

Our students harvested red willow today — saving the bark for medicine and the inner green layer for traditional tobacco.
So grateful for our new Indian Ed Liaison, Kathy Benjamin, for sharing knowledge and supporting our students. 🧡✨

Happy 67th Day of School, HZNE!

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, elementary schools across the district hosted Drum & Dance events where Native American drummers and dancers from Moorhead High and Horizon Middle School—plus their own elementary classmates—visited and performed a set of traditional songs and dances. Each event was emceed by Matthew Johnson, the Indian Education Liaison for S.G. Reinertsen Elementary. For the final song of each show, the audience was invited to participate, leading to gyms full of Spuds dancing along to the beat of the drum. Many youngsters were even seen dancing out of the gym on the way back to their classrooms! #FoundationsForTheFuture
