Illuminated Letters – Medieval Merriment with a Paint Brush. Enjoy drawing, painting and gilding your own illuminated capital letter. Learn how to draw a capital letter based on historical examples and then decorate it using imitation metals and paint or pencil crayons. We will learn how the medievalists used traditional tools as well as the modern twists and shortcuts. Keys to Kindergarten offers children important school readiness activities that improve academic, social and emotional skills. This class is for children living in the Moorhead School District who will be attending kindergarten in the Fall of 2026 and their parents. This will be a great opportunity for Kindergarten families to see their elementary school, meet staff and teachers and ask any questions or concerns you might have. Please choose the elementary building closest to your residence or if you know which building your child will attend, you may choose that one. Programs will be the same at all elementary buildings.

There will be an extra Keys to Kindergarten offered for families interested in Spanish Immersion. This will be held at Probstfield Elementary on February 19th.

New class, Italic Calligraphy. This calligraphy class will focus on the elegant italic hand, a style noted for its lithe stem and elegant crossbars . Originating in the Renaissance around Rome, Italic calligraphy was the hand of the Vatican and was the epitome of elegance and grace. Astract Watercolors – the Power of Color and Values . We will learn how to use watercolor, shape it, form it and have fun with it as we build up complex abstract designs.
