Moorhead Area Public Schools and the Moorhead Police Department will partner to host a day-long traffic safety event on Tuesday for the first day of school. The event will be in memory of Adam Amin—who would have been a fourth grader at S.G. Reinertsen Elementary—the 9-year-old victim in a fatal motor vehicle crash near the school on July 31, 2025.
Just before the full staff returned ahead of the new school year, Superintendent Lunak paid a visit to Horizon Middle School East to present the first Spud Spirit Award of the year to Rachel Lerum, East's BARR Coordinator. Congratulations, Rachel!

Earlier this month, Moorhead High held their annual International Night event. Students and their families were able to share and learn more about cultural dress, food, dance and traditions. Hundreds of staff, teens, and their families were able to observe crafted posters and presentations, including family artifacts, performances and music that celebrates the rich culture from their fellow Spuds! 🧡🖤

Students at Robert Asp Elementary were able to eat lettuce, bok choy and some different herbs off of the salad bar that were grown by the school's very own second graders. It was so fun to be able to partner with the classroom to teach students about where their food comes from and get students excited to see what they grew on the salad bar for all of their peers to try. It warms our hearts to fill their minds and their bellies!
