Congratulations to the Spud track team who competed at NDSU on April 2! The boys team took first place out of 13 schools with 153 points. 🏃 The girls team took third place out of 14 schools with 86 points.
A few highlights:
- Elinneus Davis heaved the shot put 50 feet 4 inches for second place and a personal best.
- Ella Cole finished the 3200 meter run in second place.
- Summer Lindquist placed second in the 200 meter dash.
- Isaac Martel placed first in the 3200 meter run, winning by almost one minute. #GoSpuds

Horizon Middle School's eighth-grade orchestra is ✨one of five✨ selected to play at the state honors concert on Monday, April 4! 👏 Students will play at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis and learn from members of the Minnesota Orchestra. The eighth-grade orchestra is made up of 87 members and taught by Brian Cole and Josh Biles.

Swing batter batter ⚾ Spuds baseball scrimmaged at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis last week! This unique opportunity was set up by Spuds coach Greg Salvevold and East Ridge Raptors coach Brian Sprout. Brian and Greg were teammates on the FM Redhawks almost 20 years ago! The Spuds first official game is in Sartell against the Sabres on April 7. #GoSpuds

In honor of this month’s celebration, we are featuring Erica Lindahl! Erica is a social worker at Ellen Hopkins Elementary. Her co-worker Jennifer McManamon says Erica is hard-working and a wonderful support to students and teachers alike. “We are so thankful to have her at Hopkins and to all social workers in the district!”

The Minnesota Department of Commerce has awarded Horizon West Middle School and Probstfield Elementary grants totaling $204,000! This is a part of the Solar for Schools program in an effort to create renewable energy and reduce costs. 🌎 In addition, the program provides beneficial learning opportunities for students.


Meet Lacey Julsrud, Indian Education Liaison. Lacey works across multiple buildings at Moorhead Area Public Schools. Her favorite place for a tasty treat is Moorhead Freez. 🍦 She enjoys relaxing by the lake and watching the sunrise in the summer. 🌅 And her dream vacation is somewhere near the ocean! 🌊


Our speech team is spectacular! 🗫 We hosted the Northern Lights National Qualifiers competition on March 18. Fourteen of our speech students qualified for Nationals! They will compete June 12-17 in Louisville, Kentucky. #SpudPride
