We are proud of Landon McDougal, MHS senior who took first place in the "Auto Careers, Painting & Timed Skills" category at SkillsFest at Ridgewater College in Willmar. SkillsFest is an annual competition for students to test their technical skills in everything from welding to photography. Congratulations Landon! #SpudPride 👏


A big congratulations to Horizon Middle School Orchestra members Sienna Lee and Ubin Kim for being named to the 2023 Minnesota Middle Level Honors Orchestra. Sienna and Ubin completed a rigorous application process and are two of just 50 students across the entire state of Minnesota selected for this honor. Way to go! #SpudPride


Congratulations to the MHS Weightlifting Team for competing at the Minnesota State Weightlifting Championships! Team members Emily Stamm, Ryland Braton, and Brian Neuman won State Championships in their divisions. Kira Hegg and Osama Allawi placed fourth. Jack Stamm placed third. McKenzie Baker, Addison Melby, Domingo Mueller, Micha Cozad and Brooklyn Johnson placed second. Way to go Spuds!

Children are the minds of tomorrow. To celebrate the Week of the Young Child, we want to give our Early Learning team a shout-out, which nurtures young children and helps build the foundation for healthy growth, development and learning. #SpudPride



Newroz is the Kurdish celebration of the arrival of spring and a new year. Mrs. Mustafa and Mrs. Ibrahim created a Horizon West media center window display to showcase this holiday and help students learn about Kurdish culture.





Calendar Reminder: There is no school scheduled for Moorhead students Friday, April 7 or Monday, April 10. Classes will resume Tuesday, April 11.


Moorhead public and non-public schools and buses will start two hours late on April 6. There will be no morning Early Intervention Services, JumpStart or Community Education classes. Before-school activities are canceled.

All Moorhead public and non-public schools, including Community Education classes, are closed April 5. All before-school, after-school and evening activities are canceled.
The make-up day for this storm day will extend the school year one day. Tuesday, May 30 will become the last student day for the school year.


Reminder: All Moorhead public and non-public schools will dismiss 2 hours early April 4. There will be no afternoon Early Intervention Services and JumpStart. Afternoon and evening Community Education classes and after-school and evening activities are canceled.


Due to the timing of the scheduled snow event, we are planning to hold school tomorrow, April 4 with a two hour early release to get students home before the wind picks up. Please stay tuned for further weather announcements.


Wednesday, April 5, is a late start day. Buses and classes for Moorhead Area Public Schools K-12 will run two hours later than the normal schedule. Preschool students will continue with their regular schedule.
