Summer EXCEL is coming to a close. Aside from supporting reading and math we worked on lots of fun projects around geography and even some circuit building and teamwork. Learning is fun!

Teamwork takes listening and talking and it is fun to see what you can make together!
Excel students got to learn how to make simple circuits with our Snap Circuit kits.
We learned about topographic maps and created our own map of the United States, highlighting the plains, mountains, major rivers , Great Lakes and oceans.
During geography lessons we made globes that helped us with learning continents, oceans and directions.
Congratulations to our 4th grade graduates! The class of 2033 will be moving on to middle school. We are so proud of them and will miss them here at Probstfield!

Learning is fun with our LEGO Spike kits!
Teamwork is an important skill we are working on with this project.
After the build we used our coding skills to make our projects move and work. Problem solving is an important part of this step.
First step is building with the LEGO kits following step by step instructions.
Probstfield's EXCEL summer program is off to a great start! This week for their specials class our students read The Lorax and learned about water pollution. We even made our own ocean models to test how difficult it is to clean water from an oil spill.

Making models of an oil spill helped us see the challenges of cleaning our oceans.
We learned about booms, skimmers and other tools scientists in the field use.
After reading The Lorax we shared how we are alike and different.
We learned how to draw the Lorax too!
We shared the Lorax this week.
