Moorhead Area Public Schools is partnering with Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) in building a community of readers. 📖 Starting this fall, students will have access to LARL resources with their student ID number. No need to keep track of a physical card! The partnership gives students and families access to a wide selection of resources including physical and digital materials, computer access and free Wi-Fi.

Lisa Ferguson retired after 24 years as an English and Spanish teacher at Moorhead High School. She says her favorite memory was a trip to Spain with students. They visited the Reina Sofia Museum and saw Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica. An American tourist asked her students about the artwork and were impressed by the students' knowledge. The students felt so proud and Lisa was beaming with pride for her wonderful students! In her retirement, Lisa is looking forward to studying birds and native plants in northern Minnesota, traveling and moving to a lake home.

Dawn Gunderson retired after 34 years as an English and Theater Arts teacher at Moorhead Junior High and Moorhead High School. She directed countless productions during her career.🎭 Dawn's most memorable moments are centered around helping her students gain confidence and believe in themselves. She will miss spreading her message "Be fierce, be focused, have grit and have fun!" In her retirement, she plans to branch out in her acting, singing and directing.

Eric Tollefson retired after 32 years of teaching science at Moorhead High School. One of his favorite memories was receiving a VIP invitation to attend a rocket launch for the International Space Station from a former student who interned at NASA! Tollefson coached the State AAA boys golf championship team (2012) as well as two individual State AAA boys golf champions (2012, 2015). In his retirement, he is excited to relax, golf, and possibly travel to Hawaii for his 30th wedding anniversary in September!

Janel Simonson retired after 25 years at Moorhead Area Public Schools. As a middle school and high school counselor, she met with thousands of students and their families. Janel will miss her role as an advocate for students. In retirement, she plans on traveling and splitting time between North Dakota and Texas to be with her daughters and their families. Congrats!

Kim Brosdahl retired from Moorhead Area Public Schools after 11 years. She worked as a substitute teacher before starting at Moorhead High School as a foods and English teacher. She finished up her career as an English teacher for Spud Academy.
Kim loved seeing students discover talents in new areas. She misses daily interaction with students and spending time with her colleagues. In retirement, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and substitute teaching!
"I am very thankful for the wonderful time I worked in the district. It has been a gift and a calling that I discovered in my later professional years," Kim says.
