We want to take a moment to recognize the work Dr. Holten put into creating a meaningful experience for Horizon East Students who participate in extra- and co-curricular activities. This celebration was led with passion, intention, and genuine care for all students. It wasn’t about highlighting the best player or performer, but about recognizing those who are truly living up to our shared standards and core values.

An awesome winter tradition for students at Horizon Middle School East is the Honor Band Holiday Tour: members of this ensemble spend the day traveling to MAPS elementary schools and other locations to share their music during the festive season. This year, the Honor Band visited Ellen Hopkins Elementary, Robert Asp Elementary, Dorothy Dodds Elementary and Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth. Great job, Spuds! 🎶❄️🧡 #FoundationsForTheFuture

On the first Friday of each month, staff at Horizon West wear gear to promote awareness of opportunities after high school. 🎓
Staff around the building take time to share with students about a school they (or someone they know) attended or a job they once had. This has been a fun way for students to get to know more about the adults in the building while also promoting great discussions! #foundationsforthefuture 🥔👍🏼
Our Horizon West students have been busy spreading warmth this winter! Through our annual partnership with The Joy Project, our Spuds teamed up to hand-craft over 90 fleece tie blankets for our own students and community members experiencing homelessness.
This project was a major highlight of our school-wide Month of Service. Our students are learning that a little time and effort can go a long way—by creating these blankets, they are delivering more than just handmade warmth; they are sending "extra joy" to our community during some of the coldest months of the year! We are so incredibly proud of the compassion and hard work our students and staff showed to make this massive impact.
