Meet Dan Dahlvang, Horizon Middle School East Teacher of the Year! Dan is a 7th-grade math teacher. He has taught at Moorhead Area Public Schools since 1993. Follow along as we highlight each Teacher of the Year Building Representative. This program is run by Education Moorhead.


Do you like science? Do you like to build things?
There will be an informational meeting for Science Olympiad Tuesday Dec. 20 at 8:45 in room 170. Science Olymiad is open to all students in grades 6-8. If you are not able to make it to the meeting, email Mrs. Berg at cberg@moorheadschools.org to receive more information about this activity.

Congratulations to Horizon West sixth graders for their participation in Moorhead Lions’ Club Peace Poster Art Competition! The Peace Poster competition is an art contest organized by the Lions Club on a national level. Each year the Moorhead Lions club helps fund and organize the Peace Poster Art contest to curate the works of art that best advertise the importance of peace in the world. This year’s Peace Poster theme was “Leading With Compassion”. Sixth graders compete locally to receive art supplies, while first place moves on to compete for a chance to win 5,000 dollars and a trip to New York City! Horizon West 6th grade class took time out of their day to congratulate winners at the award ceremony held at Horizon West on Thursday, November 10th.

Student Reminder: There will be an informational meeting for any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student who would like to AUDITION for the musical James and the Giant Peach, on Monday Nov. 21th at 4:10 in the PAC. This meeting is very important as audition information, signups and mandatory dates will be shared.
*Note: if you are interested in working on the technical aspects of the show a separate meeting with the technical director will be held at a later date.

It’s time to Fill the Dome! Moorhead High School students are on a mission to collect as many non-perishable food items as possible. Each classroom will have a box to collect non-perishable food items. Let's help end hunger by filling the Fargodome.
