💡 Amendment Fact #4:
Will this fund run out? No! 🔒
The proposal includes built-in safeguards, using a three-year rolling average to prevent over-withdrawing and ensure the core endowment continues growing for future generations of students. It is a sustainable investment in education at zero taxpayer expense.

💡 Amendment Fact #3: Let’s talk taxes.
This constitutional amendment will NOT raise your taxes. 🛑💵
Because funding comes directly from the returns on state-held lands and investments, it provides dedicated support for education without impacting property taxes, income taxes, or local tax rates.

Let’s chat about the Permanent School Fund Amendment! 💡🏫
We’ve heard a few questions popping up lately, so we want to share the quick facts on how this helps support our Moorhead students and schools across Minnesota.
❌ MYTH: "The legislature can use this fund for other state projects."
✅ FACT: Nope! The fund is officially locked in by the Minnesota Constitution. By law, every single dollar is dedicated exclusively to supporting public school districts.
Even better? It’s set up as a perpetual trust with a steady 4.5% annual cap. That means our funding stays strong and protected for today’s Spuds and future generations to come! 🧡🖤

💡 Amendment Fact #2
The proposed constitutional amendment allows the state to increase the annual distribution limit from 2.5% up to 4.5% of the fund’s average value.
What does that mean for local classrooms? More resources for vital school programming without asking property owners for a dime!

💡 Amendment Fact #1: Did you know the Permanent School Fund was established back when Minnesota became a state in 1858?
Land was set aside to generate investment revenue and natural resource returns to support public education. This amendment modernizes an existing asset so our students can benefit more from revenues already generated—all with $0 added cost to taxpayers!
Explore the history and facts on our ISD 152 Permanent School Fund Webpage.
Here’s your weekly reminder: mindset is everything! That project you're working on? You've got this. That goal you set for yourself this semester? You're closer than you think.
When our Spuds believe in their potential, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish together. Let's make this week count!🧡

🎧 Tune into the latest episode of the Spudcast! 🎧
Executive Director of Community Engagement & Public Relations Brenda Richman sits down with Superintendent Brandon Lunak to discuss the Permanent School Fund Constitutional Amendment appearing on your ballot this fall.
In this episode, Superintendent Lunak breaks down:
👉 What the Permanent School Fund is and how it benefits local public education.
👉 Why modernizing this distribution formula is on the ballot this November.
👉 What our community needs to know before heading to the voting booth.
Here is the key takeaway: This amendment will NOT increase your taxes or cost Minnesotans a single extra penny. It simply allows local school districts to receive a higher payout from existing, state-managed endowment assets.
