Moorhead Adult Education assists learners in their transition into training, postsecondary education, or the workforce. One of the ways we do this is through something called the Regional Online Career Collaborative (ROCC) classes. These are short online classes to offer skill building in a variety of areas including: preparing for the Minnesota Driver's permit exam, learning to write a college research paper, exploring career pathways, learning English specific to the healthcare field, taking a "pre" CNA course to be ready for the rigor of a CNA course, becoming a certified paraprofessional, and so much more. These free courses are offered to students enrolled with Moorhead Adult Education who meet the minimum academic score . Contact Tammy Schatz for more information at (218) 284-3460 or tschatz@moorheadschools.org.

Thank you to Matt Naugle and Rashid Hussein from Essentia Health for educating the Moorhead Adult Education learners about the variety of career opportunities at your organization. More than 50 students and staff enjoyed these presentations at Vista Center for Education today.

Volunteers have a tremendous impact on the Moorhead Adult Education program! Ranging in age from college student to senior citizen, these individuals assist classroom teachers in supporting the academic growth of students from pre-literate through college-ready. Placement options include: one to one, small group instruction, leading special interest classes, assistance with preparing student material or office help . Volunteer training is provided. Contact Tammy Schatz, Program Director, at (218) 284-3460 or tschatz@moorheadschools.org for more information.

We are proud of the hard work that Moorhead Adult Education students put forth in achieving their academic and employment goals. On July 10, 2024, we had the honor of celebrating their accomplishments at the annual Adult Education Student Recognition Event. Students received certificates and medals for categories such as: Earning a diploma, academic level gains, obtaining a job or promotion, computer skill proficiency, becoming a U.S. Citizenship, and more!

Basic Computer Skills classes will begin next Monday, September 16, 2024. The in-person class will be held at the Moorhead location. Students who score at an 85% or better at the end of this course will earn a certificate. If you are interested, speak to your teacher this week to get signed up.

There is an opportunity to apply to be on the "Family Advisory Board " member to provide input and guidance in the Family Resource Center (FRC) that is being developed in Clay County. If this is of interest to you, go to the website or QR code for more information.
The deadline to apply is Monday, September 16, 2024.
