The "Adult Education Week" celebration continues at Vista Center for Education. Today we are enjoying refreshments and showing a few examples of how the volunteers in the program impact our learners. Samantha is leading a small group of evening beginning ESL students and Susan is teaching a multi-level art experience class to the ESL and High School Equivalency classrooms. Thank you, volunteers, for the impact that you have on the Moorhead Adult Education consortium!
Moorhead Adult Education offers free digital literacy (computer) classes to all enrolled students. This includes teacher-led and independent study models of instruction in: keyboarding basics, Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Using Email, Windows, Mac OS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Social Media, Information Literacy, Supporting K-12 Distance Learning, Career Search Skills, and Your Digital Footprint. Contact Rebecca at rhunt@moorheadschools.org for more information and class schedule.
Adult Education Week is September 17-23, 2023 and an opportunity to share the message of what this work looks like within our region.
Volunteers are a tremendous asset to the students and staff of the Moorhead consortium and are trained to assist in various capacities. This includes 1:1 tutoring, leading a small group, teaching a class, preparing student materials for the teacher, or assisting in the office.
If you would like to learn more about volunteering at one of our sites (Moorhead, Hawley, Barnesville, Breckenridge, Wheaton, and Fergus Falls) please join us at one of the 2 volunteer information sessions on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. More information or separate training for one of the satellite sites is available by, contacting Tammy at tschatz@moorheadschools.org or 218.284.3460.
Thank you to Jen and Dani who shared ECFE information and resources with our ABE group today. It was fun for us to learn more about programs for our littles and receive items to take home to or our children ages 0- 5.
This will be repeated for our evening ESL students tonight and again tomorrow morning for those who missed out.
