The Minnesota Department of Commerce has awarded Horizon West Middle School and Probstfield Elementary grants totaling $204,000! This is a part of the Solar for Schools program in an effort to create renewable energy and reduce costs. 🌎 In addition, the program provides beneficial learning opportunities for students.


Spring Sports for Horizon East will begin as follows:
Tennis and Track will begin April 4th from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. Practices will run everyday after school unless told differently from your students coaches. Make sure to have your students dressed for the weather as they will be outside.
Golf will begin the week of March 28th. The coaches will email the students the schedule. They will vary on practice dates due to space and weather.

It’s Youth Art Month! 🎨 Students at Horizon Middles School are showcasing their art at the Plains Art Museum. This exhibit hosts over 40 area schools and it's the 20th consecutive year they’ve hosted this event! Ms. Crary’s students at Horizon Middle School created a welcome board for families attending conferences. Pictured are students that helped create QR codes families could scan to hear welcome messages in seven different languages, including Arabic, English, Kurdish, Somali, Spanish, Swahili and Vietnamese!



Shout out to Horizon Middle School counselor Angela Keeping! Angela was chosen for The United Way’s 35 under 35 Women’s Leadership Program and has been participating in meetings and continuing education. This program’s goal is to identify local women, and inspire them to achieve their maximum potential. Horizon Middle School students are experiencing the thrill of cross country skiing! PE teacher Nicole Wiesner purchased skis, boots, and poles, with funding from PartnerSHIP 4 Health! 🎿





A school age COVID vaccination clinic will be held by Clay County Public Health on Wed. March 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Family Service Center, 715 11th St N in Moorhead.

Sixth graders recently competed in Math Masters of Minnesota! Spuds placed in both individual and group events. Out of 88 students in the individual events, five of our Spuds placed in the top ten, including Jett Blakenship in first place! Our students also took first, second and third place out of 21 teams in the group events. #SpudPride


Last week building administrators served orange crush floats 🍊 to celebrate Horizon West Middle School staff. They are CRUSHING it! 👏 It takes collaboration - and inside the walls of Horizon exists the most magical team who teaches and supports our students in the most compassionate and beautiful ways. #SpudPride
