Ellen Hopkins kindergarteners in Ms. McLain's class are having a blast with the big blocks! Who knew building could be this much fun? 🏗️🧱✨

Happy campers in Kindergarten! 🏕️🪵🔥

Kindergarten classrooms participate in an ABC countdown during the last 26 days of school! On 'C' day they made tents in class for camping! 🏕️ 🪵 Look at those cozy campfires!

Happy Friday, Spuds! 🫶🥔

We can’t say enough about the incredible rockstars in our kitchen! From early mornings to smiling faces at lunch, they keep our school running and our students fueled. We loved celebrating them during School Lunch Hero Week with fun dress-up days and lots of appreciation, because they truly deserve it all! ✨ 💛 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️

STEM Mode: Activated. 🛠️ Love seeing the teamwork and critical thinking that happens when we trade workbooks for STEM activities.

Ruby dressed up as her favorite vegetable for school lunch hero week! 🫑🌶️

Ms Emanuel’s class has been learning about seasons and signs of spring, so they took their learning outside! 🌳⛅️ They looked for insects, found sticks, wrote our names in the mud, and most importantly: had fun enjoying outdoors! The kids loved noticing the grass slowly turning green, finding leftover leaves from the fall, and exploring (safely) with mud!

4th Grade Takeover! 🏆 Ellen Hopkins Elementary's sports field day at Concordia was a BLAST! From tug-of-war battles to racing around the track, our students brought incredible energy and school spirit! 🤩 It was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable memories on the field. 👟✨

Guess who dropped by? The wonderful Moorhead author Kim Larson paid us a very special visit! 👣📖 She brought all the "miniature" drama of her brand-new book, Doll Trouble, and shared some serious wisdom with our budding writers. ✍️🌟 Kim took us behind the scenes of the writing process and showed us exactly what it takes to turn a big idea into a real-life book! 🛠️🎨

What started with a simple idea at home turned into something pretty special for Andrew, one of our kindergartners. Andrew decided he wanted to become a library helper, so he took the initiative to write a note to Mr. Cox, our media center specialist, asking if he could help in the library. Mr. Cox loved the idea and said yes! Now Andrew is an official library helper, complete with his very own badge. Every Tuesday, you can find him proudly helping out in the media center. His kindness, initiative, and willingness to help make him a wonderful example of leadership. Way to go, Andrew! 🌟

Get ready to celebrate the real MVPs of the cafeteria! School Lunch Hero Week is coming up (April 27 - May 1), and we’ve got a full lineup of spirit days to show our appreciation. 🍎🦸♂️⚡️ Let’s make this week unforgettable for the amazing team that keeps us fueled and ready to learn. Which day are you most excited for?

We couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible dedication of Mrs. Drussell and Mrs. Evenstad! Their work as EL teachers is vital; they serve as both educators and advocates, bridging the gap between language and learning to ensure every student feels seen and heard! ❤️

In April (and really every month) we honor the essential role of school libraries and librarians in fostering a love of reading and critical research skills. Our Ellen Hopkins library is a perfect example of just that. 📖📓📚

HAPPY EARTH DAY! 🌏🌱🌻♻️ These three Ellen Hopkins students took it upon themselves to clean up trash in front of the building where the wind piles it up! It's the little things. ❤️ #SpudPride

We are so thankful for our Administrative Assistants throughout Moorhead Public Schools who help keep the buildings running smoothly, their impeccable attention to detail, and willingness to help EVERYONE! 💖 Thank you Kelley and Bri for all you do in the front office at Ellen Hopkins! We also want to shoutout Rajin, our health office tech, and Ms. Dani, our media center assistant. ⌨️ 📞💻✨ 📋 #SpudProud

Wild about learning! 🐆✏️✨ Just two leopard-print fans having the best day ever!

Mrs. Goplen’s kinders celebrated Dental Health Month by learning all about their teeth, all the way from anatomy to proper brushing! 🪥 The class even crafted their own sets of teeth to take home. This unit kicked off their new community helper play space, where students role-play as dentists, hygienists, receptionists, and patients. By exploring the clinic through play, they’re building confidence for future dentist appointments. Yay! 🦷✨

It’s Friday! 🧡🫶🏽😝 Shoutout to Mrs. Wothe and Mrs. Jorda for bringing all the good vibes this morning (& twinning!) ✨
