Moorhead Adult Education students are welcome to participate in a number of free computer classes. Instructor Rebecca Lee-Hunt teaches these classes each Monday morning at Vista Center for Education. In addition to teacher-led courses, students may also engage in an independent study format of over a dozen course options. Upon completion of each course, students take proctored assessments. Those demonstrating proficiency earn certificates.

Moorhead Adult Education students had multiple opportunities to engage in the Art Experience classes in January. Here are a few of their masterpieces. A huge thank you to volunteer Susan Richardson who gives of her time and provides students a glimpse into various artists and art mediums.

Today our English Language Learners discovered hot apple cider. This delicious warm drink was an exciting new experience. One student went to the whiteboard to try to map out the difference between apple juice and apple cider for his classmates. Days like today bring warm fuzzies to the hearts, minds, and stomachs of the Moorhead Adult Education team.

The Moorhead Adult Education team attended the 2023 ABE Fall Regional event in Bemidji on October 5-6, 2023. The event afforded multiple options for professional development in teaching English, digital literacy, and High School Equivalency content. Moorhead instructor, Casey Hatlevoll, led a session on math practices and Tammy Schatz facilitated a session for the regional manager team.

A highlight for Adult Education Week was the recognition of the first graduate of the Clay County Correctional Facility ABE program. Jared was able to complete his General Equivalency Development (GED) diploma in a very short time. Thank you to Sheriff Mark Empting and the Clay County Correctional team for supporting this work!

The "Adult Education Week" celebration continues at Vista Center for Education. Today we are enjoying refreshments and showing a few examples of how the volunteers in the program impact our learners. Samantha is leading a small group of evening beginning ESL students and Susan is teaching a multi-level art experience class to the ESL and High School Equivalency classrooms. Thank you, volunteers, for the impact that you have on the Moorhead Adult Education consortium!

Thank you to Jen and Dani who shared ECFE information and resources with our ABE group today. It was fun for us to learn more about programs for our littles and receive items to take home to or our children ages 0- 5.
This will be repeated for our evening ESL students tonight and again tomorrow morning for those who missed out.
