Kristin Strombeck for Spud Spirit Award in May

The Spud family is growing stronger every day thanks to educators like Kaitlin Strombeck. This month, we are proud to recognize Kaitlin, a 4th-grade teacher at Robert Asp Elementary, as the May recipient of the Spud Spirit Award. This award celebrates staff members who live out our district mission and go the extra mile to support our students and families. Kaitlin’s impact was recently highlighted by a parent who shared how she has transformed their child’s school experience. Recognizing that their student is highly intelligent and thrives when challenged, Kaitlin proactively provided extra math challenges to keep them engaged. Her ability to balance academic rigor with a kind, calm, and understanding approach has made a world of difference for the student and their family.

Beyond the classroom assignments, Kaitlin is known at Robert Asp for being fun, outgoing, and forward-thinking. Whether she is tackling a new challenge or finding innovative ways to keep her 4th graders excited about school, her dedication to her students' success is clear. Her nominator noted that her kindness and the personal effort she invests in every child are what make her such a dedicated teacher. By focusing on relationship-based teaching and seeing the unique potential in every learner, Kaitlin perfectly exemplifies our mission to develop the maximum potential of every Spud. Superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak visited Robert Asp to present Kaitlin with her award pin in front of her class.

Congratulations, Kaitlin, on this well-deserved honor!
