Thank you for joining us for the February 2026 MHS Construction Project Phase 2 update! This final stage of the project is nearing the finish line, with only the auditorium, black box theater and surrounding spaces left to complete.
From the stage, you can see the significant progress made in the auditorium, with the infrastructure for both seating levels now in place, along with the stairways. With the stairs installed, we’re able to move up to the second level—offering a new perspective and a true sense of the scale of this impressive new auditorium.
Beneath the second level, it’s easy to visualize how the seating in the rear rows of the lower level will be arranged before stepping down toward the seats closest to the stage. Just beyond the wall behind these seats will be a large control room—the nerve center for the exciting new technology that will power events in this space.
Through the north wall of the control room you can catch an early glimpse of what will become the gallery space and entrance to the theater. Once complete, the gallery will connect to the main commons across from Spuddy’s Store. In addition to serving as the theater entrance and box office, this space will celebrate the fine art accomplishments of students–both today and throughout history.
Across the hall from the auditorium is the black box theater—a flexible performance space designed for smaller, more intimate productions. This new black box is a significant upgrade from the one that was removed with the old MHS in 2024. Work here is nearing completion, with flooring and final finishes among the last remaining items.
Similarly, the multipurpose room connected to the black box is awaiting its finishing touches, including the installation of retractable seating along the east wall, where you currently see storage boxes.
Stay tuned to the district website and social media channels for more updates as we get closer and closer to the completion of this exciting project!
