Thank you for joining us for the January 2026 Moorhead High School Construction Project Phase 2 Update. With the arrival of the new year, a huge new portion of Phase 2 is now open as the music section of the Fine Arts wing is now online!
Because the Auditorium and Black Box are still under construction—scheduled to be completed this summer—you will need to walk down the newly finished hallway between the Sports Center on the left and the Black Box on the right to reach the music classrooms.
Before you get to the music rooms, you will walk through an area connecting the old MHS with the new building as you pass the Fieldhouse, which re-opened in December and was once again hosting basketball games over winter break.
Past the Fieldhouse, you see a recently completed restroom area that will serve the Fine Arts wing, including the classrooms, auditorium and Black Box. Just around the corner, you reach the music hallway!
The northernmost of the large music rooms is the band room which, like the other music rooms, was relocated over break from above the Sports Center to its new home on the south end of the building. The chairs in the band room are arranged for a full ensemble, including a large percussion section in the back of the room.
Across the hall, you can see the breakout rooms which will be used for smaller and more specialized ensembles to practice.
In the middle of the three large rooms you’ll find the new home of the MHS orchestra. This room is a mirror image of the band room, with notable differences in the setup such as a tighter arrangement of seats for a greater focus on strings.
Finally, at the south end of the hall, we reach the choir room. Though the infrastructure of the room is similar to its band and orchestra counterparts, you can see with the piano and the risers & chairs how the room can look much different when set up for a different style of performance in mind.
Stay tuned to the district website and social channels for future updates as we move closer to the completion of Phase 2 in 2026!
