MAPS School Survey Results

Moorhead Area Public Schools is excited to unveil the exceptional results of its recent survey conducted by The Morris Leatherman Company. The survey, comprising 400 registered voters and 40 questions, provided valuable insights into community sentiments and mirrored a similar survey conducted by the district in 2018. The survey results were benchmarked against the PDK Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools conducted in 2022.

An impressive 67% of respondents graded the Moorhead school district with an A or B, signifying a high level of community satisfaction. The Moorhead community outperformed the national benchmark, with 14% more A grades and a notable decrease in D and Fail grades. Respondents based their grades on six critical factors: Academic Standards, Financial Management, Leadership and Management, Student Behavior, Quality of Instruction, and Variety of Programs.

The survey also asked survey participants about their perceptions in three areas:

  • Community Involvement: Respondents were asked about their agreement with the statement, "The school district does a good job of involving parents and community members in decisions about the schools," with 79% expressing agreement, an increase of 22% over 2018 results.
  • Tax Dollars: Respondents also shared their reaction to the statement, "In recent years, the school district has spent its tax dollars effectively and efficiently," with 69% expressing agreement, up 3% from the 2018 survey.
  • Trust in Administration: Finally, participants shared their level of agreement with the statement, "The school board and administration can be trusted to do what is right for the district’s school children," with 80% expressing agreement, a 8% increase from 2018.
"We are not only pleased with the high level of community satisfaction reflected in the survey but also proud to see Moorhead outperforming the national benchmark as well as our own 2018 results. The results reaffirm our dedication to helping every student to thrive in a changing world. We know we can’t do this alone and the community’s positive perceptions mean so much as together we showcase our commitment to academic excellence for every child in Moorhead,” said Superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak.
