The National Speech and Debate Association recently recognized the Moorhead High Speech Team for Excellence in Speech with the Leading Chapter Award and Team Sweepstakes Award at the National Speech and Debate Association’s Northern Lights District tournament held March 17-18. Moorhead qualified seventeen speakers to the National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona June 11-16. The following Moorhead students qualified to represent the best of Minnesota Speech at this prestigious national tournament:
Drama: Tate Horan, Leif Carlson, Luc duCharme
Humor: Tate Horan and Ashlyn Kanuch
Oratory: Hameedah Oladele, Sam Schaefer, and Emma Andersen
Dramatic Duo: Finn Larson/Leif Carlson, Ashlyn Kanuch/Sam Schaefer, CeCe Bedore/Jack Nichol, Greta Homuth/Olivia Dahlberg
Informative: Karena Christenson and Eleanor Culloton
Program Oral Interpretation: Finn Larson, India Carlson, Hameedah Oladele
Extemporaneous Speaking: Larkyn Kellen and Jinu Lee
The public is invited to see the six-time state championship team at the Speech Showcase on Thursday, March 23rd at 7:00 PM in the Horizon Performing Arts Center. The admission price is $8 for adults/$6 for students and includes a dessert reception.
