Equity and Inclusion

We are committed to our mission to help every student thrive in a changing world. This includes creating an environment in which individuals representing diverse cultures and experiences teach one another the meaning and value of community.

We know that diversity alone does not lead to inclusion, and we take active steps to create an environment in which the identities and cultural backgrounds of our families, students and employees are valued and respected.

We believe that diversity is essential to achieving educational and academic excellence. We also believe that students’ learn better with diversity of the curriculum, student body and adult community. We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable community in which all individuals can participate in and contribute to the life of the school, regardless of race, gender, class, religion, sexual orientation or any other aspect of their identity. We actively work to gain a deeper understanding of difference and how we honor it in our daily lives at school.

Equity and Inclusion Statement

Moorhead Area Public Schools is committed to ensuring an equitable and respectful environment for every student, family, and staff member to support and sustain a community that is inclusive, diverse and equitable. We are committed to educational equity as a shared commitment to ensure every student receives what they need to be successful, and believe all students must be given meaningful and engaging learning opportunities and allowed to thrive.

MAPS Equity Framework

The purpose of this framework is to provide information and identify actionable steps to support the strategic goals and priorities in the areas of equity and inclusion in Moorhead Area Public Schools. This equity framework guides our understanding of where we must continue to grow and where we must embrace change, provide opportunities for reflection, research best practices, and practice collective accountability.

The equity framework is a living document to document growth in goals and action steps in equity and inclusion with students, staff and community.
