Principal Message

SGR Families,

Welcome to the halfway point of December (at least for school days). As we’ve been saying, it’s a busy month, so let’s get to it!

Notes this week:

  • Parking, Drop off, and Music Programs this week: 2 of our classes have music programs this week that start right at 7:45 am, one on Tuesday, and the other on Wednesday. We’re excited about this, but we need some help from everyone.

    • First, we’d like all student drop offs on these two days to be in our main parent lot on the east side. The exception would be Ms. Herman’s students, but otherwise everyone else should get dropped off on the east side for these two days only (regular drop off on these mornings the other days is still great).

    • Second, we’d like our parents/students who are attending these music programs (you’ll know if it is your child’s class) to park in the staff lot on the west side of the building and enter door 13. Please feel free to park perpendicular to the curb, at least for these two programs. We’ll have a sign-in sheet and visitor stickers at a table with an adult just inside the door. Students can do normal morning activities (unless you hear differently from their teacher) and adults can head right to the music room.

  • Dress Up Days: As we mentioned last week, our 9 days of dress up starts this week as a fun way to end the 2022 calendar year. Students can participate or not as they choose, and the goal is to have fun with options you already have at home so that you don’t have to go and get anything. Have fun!

  • Lost & Found: All of our Lost & Found items will be displayed in the main hallway starting on Monday, and anything left on Friday after school will be bagged and donated. Please encourage your child to look for missing items! We want you to have your stuff, so please grab it!

  • Temperature and Outside: Remember, our guide for going outside or staying inside for Active time in the morning and Recess during the day is 0 F actual temperature, and -10 F wind chill. We use the National Weather Service as our guide, and if we are above both we’ll be outside. However, we will keep kids inside if we fall below either of those markers and we’ll either do indoor recess or walking loops in the morning for Active time (see video for example).

Thanks for another great week! Have an awesome day!
