A Message from Our School Counselor

Fall Greetings

Our November Theme: WISDOM

We are practicing the Seven Grandfather Teachings this whole year. Each month we highlight one teaching. This month we are highlighting WISDOM. According to Wikipedia, Wisdom, sapience, or sagacity is the ability to contemplate and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense and insight. We have all known people who are wise…..some beyond their years.

Along with practicing and recognizing students who are wise beyond their years, we are participating in FILL THE DOME during the month of November as well.

Just like pretty much everything over the past few years, there were modifications to Fill the Dome but thankfully it is back this year and we are so excited to participate in this wonderful event again.

Everyone is encouraged to bring in non-perishable or canned FOOD items to their classroom. Items brought to school will stay right here in the F-M communities to restock area food pantries for the winter months.

Fill the Dome is a unique food drive because it is completely student-led.  Moorhead HS students have begun the food drive by making a video which was shown to our SGR students last week. They have offered up a donut party to the classroom who brings in the most canned or non-perishable food items before November 23! So… LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED, SGR!!!

Our 4th grade K-Kids will be holding their first meeting afterschool on Thursday, 11/10,  to advertise, count and collect the food items SGR students bring into their classrooms. From there, MHS students will be driving to each elementary school in Moorhead and bringing all the food items over to the FargoDome.

It is quite an undertaking so be looking for the fruits of our labor the week of Thanksgiving on local news channels. It feels good to give back and it is wise to do so.
