Principal Message

SGR Families,

Brrr, it has started to get a little colder outside! The extended summer weather was nice, but it was bound to get colder at some point. Please verify your child/children are dressing warmly. We have outdoor active time and outdoor recess every day, unless it is raining or the temp is below 0 F, and we’d prefer your child to stay warm enough during those times. Thanks!

Other items of note:

  • NO SCHOOL: Remember, due to conferences kids only have school on Monday and Tuesday this week. There is NO SCHOOL for students on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

  • Conferences: Check PowerSchool for your conference time. If you need to make a change you’ll have to call the main office at 218-284-5300 and we’ll see what we can do.

  • Book Fair: SGR PTAC will be sponsoring our annual book fair, so check it out in our media center.

  • Lost & Found: Are you missing any clothing items at home? Sweatshirts? Hats? Even water bottles? If so, it’s probably here at school. All of your lost items have been found, or at least hopefully. We’ll have several tables in the main hallway this week during the day and throughout conferences with these lost items. Please look for your missing items. Anything left at the end of conferences on Wednesday morning will be donated either to the school or some other organization in town. Thanks!

  • Picture Day Make-up: If your child missed school picture day, retakes for ALL of the school district is this week at the Career Academy. Tue, 10/18 from 3-5 pm, and Wed, 10/19 from 10 am - Noon.

  • Positive Recognition: We’re adding two new ways to recognize kids for their great behavior. First, all of our lunch supervisors, PE, music, and art teachers have stamps with “Caught Being Awesome” and Spuddy on them. They’ll stamp kids when they are noticing great behavior in their settings. Obviously they can’t recognize all kids all the time, but we will try our best. We’re also adding a weekly trophy for the class that does best in the cafeteria each week. It’s a traveling trophy that classes get to keep in their rooms for a week.

We’re so excited to see all of you at conferences this week! It’s a great time to talk about your child’s goals and progress towards them. Thanks for being amazing partners with us! It’s going to be an awesome week!
