SGR Families,

Welcome to October! It’s a busy month, but an exciting one. For starters, our theme this month is our first of the Seven Grandfathers Teachings, Courage. We’ll be spending a lot of time in our principal videos, lessons with Ms. Shari, and everywhere else talking about how we show courage at school, so hopefully these lessons carry through to your homes as well. Everything else to know this week is below:

  • Walk-A-Thon: Our 3rd Annual Walk-A-Thon is this Tuesday and parents are welcome to attend! Meet your child/class outside on the lawn by the parent parking lot and please consider donating online.

    • Kindergarten 10:15-10:30 AM

    • 1st grade 10:45-11:00 AM

    • 4th grade 11:45-12:00 AM

    • 3rd grade 12:15-12:30 PM

    • 2nd grade 1:00-1:15 PM

  • No School: This Friday, October 7, is a professional development day for staff, so there is no school that day

  • Lunch: We continue to refine our lunch options to meet the needs of as many students as we’re able. This year we’re being very mindful of having gluten free, egg free, and dairy free options everyday. If you check out the menu online those meals are designated with GF, EF, DF, respectively. We’re excited to provide these options, but please note that you need to have a doctor’s note on file with the health office to access them.

  • Breakfast: Warm/cold breakfast options are served daily from 7:20-7:35. At 7:35 we switch to bag breakfasts that students bring back to their classrooms/neighborhoods. We prefer students who need breakfast at school to eat in the cafeteria, if at all possible, which means being in the school before that service ends. This helps keep the classrooms cleaner and keep them focused on instruction. We’ll never turn a student down for breakfast, but we might encourage them to eat quickly if they bring it to the room.

  • Conferences: You should be able to schedule online your October Family/Teacher conference at this time. Log into PowerSchool, find PowerPTC, and then schedule a time that works for your family. Conferences are from 4:00-7:30 pm on Mon, Oct 17, and Tue, Oct 18, and then from 8:00-11:30 am on Wed, Oct 19.

It’s another great week to be AWESOME!
