Principal Message

SGR Families,

Hard to believe, but we’re nearing the end of another school year. We’re hoping for nice weather for field trips, as it is impossible to reschedule anything. So we’re crossing our fingers and toes, and think everyone else should, too!

Notes for the week:

  • Family Survey Goal Setting: As many of you know, we worked hard to implement shared goal setting this year with all families. We invited everyone to complete a survey at October conferences to gauge how it started. Now we’re asking families to complete the same survey to wrap up the year. We sent paper copies home at the end of last week that included an online option. We’ve linked that same online survey here. Please only complete it once, either online or on paper. Paper copies can be returned to your classroom teacher. Thanks!
  • Field Trips/Events: Some 3rd grade classes will be at the Planetarium this Monday. Our 4th graders are hosting the States Fair on Tuesday. Thursday will be our SGR Field Day at SGR! Finally, 1st grade is heading to Chahinkapa Zoo on Friday! It’s going to be a busy week again.
  • Parking for SGR Events: Brookdale Church, directly east of us, continues to graciously offer the use of their parking lot as overflow parking during our events, provided they do not have an event happening at the same time. Please feel free to use it if our lots are full, and please be respectful of their property. They have talked about hosting a car wash again next week, so keep your eyes open for that, if interested.
  • Educational Benefits: As of right now, it appears that funding for school lunch will return to pre-Covid levels next year, which means that families will be back to paying for lunch again. You don’t have to do anything at this time, but we wanted to make everyone aware as we head into summer. One option available to families in need is the Educational Benefits form. We’ll share this out in the summer and early fall and would encourage all families to consider filling it out at that time.
  • Yearbooks: If you purchased a yearbook, they should hopefully be here next week. If you missed ordering one, we usually have a few extras that can be purchased next week on a first come, first served basis. We’ll let you know if/when those are available.
  • Student Placement information: The attached link is an OPTIONAL form for families to fill out regarding student placement for next school year. Our staff knows your child well and will provide great information to assist in placing your child in the best setting possible for them next year. At the same time, we know that you know your own child best. The optional form provides you an opportunity to share that information with us. If interested, complete the form. We’ll keep the form open until the last day of school.
  • Excel Program: Our Excel after school program is now finished for the year, which means that no one will be staying late after school the rest of the year. If it’s nice out, we encourage all students within a mile to walk, bike, scooter or rollerblade to/from school!

As you’ve seen, it has been a busy month already and it’s not letting up the last two weeks. As always, your classroom teachers are the best source of information for events related to your child. If you have any questions, please connect with them directly, either by email or phone. Thank you, and as always, have an awesome week!
