Principal Message

SGR Families,

Happy Mother’s Day! We’re so thankful for all of the mothers, and motherly figures, who positively impact our students daily and we hope you enjoy the day today. Three weeks of school left and it’s going to be busy. We have just a few notes this week, starting with field trips:

  • Field Trips: As we’ve stated previously, it’s a busy May with field trips, not just at SGR, but throughout the district. That busy schedule, combined with a shortage of bus drivers, means that we’re maxed out most days. Therefore, if an event has to be canceled due to weather, there likely will NOT be a makeup day. Indoor trips, like the planetarium for our 3rd graders this week should be fine, but outdoor trips like the RedHawks game for school patrol and the all-city track meet for 4th grade could be affected. Please check your email/phones regularly if you are unsure, as we’ll do our best to notify families as quickly as we’re able. If possible, our staff will try to create an alternative activity to replace a canceled one. Thanks in advance for understanding!
  • SGR PTAC: Our last PTAC meeting of the year is this Tuesday starting at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria!
  • Excel: This week is the last week of our Excel after school program. Remember, we also have an Excel program in the summer, so please consider signing up if your child’s teacher has reached out to you. If you have questions, please reach out to them as well!

Our back racks were full last week thanks to the warmer weather. Hopefully that will continue because it’s a great way to build some independence in our students! Have an awesome day and an even better week!
