SGR Families,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Thank you to everyone who helped at or enjoyed Family Fun Night last Friday night. It was an awesome event and we had a great time, even when we were getting dunked! A huge THANK YOU to our PTAC for organizing and running this amazing event. They are always looking for help and seeking out ideas to support the SGR community, and we would love everyone to consider attending their monthly meetings to learn more about what they’re doing. Their next meeting is Tuesday, April 12, from 6:30-7:30 pm in the SGR cafeteria, so please think about attending! A few other notes as we start the month of April:

  • Late Start: We have a planned late start district wide this Wednesday, April 6. Buses, doors, etc will all be two hours later than normal, which means we won’t unlock the school until 9:30. The day will still end at 2:40, thanks!
  • MCA Testing: MCA testing at SGR starts this week. Testing is only for our 3rd and 4th graders, so families with younger children needn’t think about it. For our older students, be sure to get good nights of sleep and healthy breakfasts when you’re going to be testing so your mind is ready!
  • Brave the Shave: Thank you to everyone who helped us raise money for Brave the Shave last week. We’ll announce a total, along with the three highest classes, to all students tomorrow morning. Mrs. Olson, her family, and everyone at SGR was blown away last week by the kindness, compassion, and empathy shown by students of all ages. We heard many inspiring and heartwarming stories of our students taking the initiative to find/raise money for this worthy cause. Thank you all for everything you did to support your child’s energy and enthusiasm last week!
  • Recess: It’s finally warm enough that cold weather will no longer affect our recess schedule. However, rain still might. A light sprinkle is sometimes okay, but regular to heavy rain will keep us inside. Plan on dressing your child for outdoor recess every day, thanks!

Thanks again for all of the support last Friday at Family Fun Night! It was an awesome time and we’re glad we were able to make it happen! Have an awesome week!
