Principal Message

SGR Families,

Happy Sunday! Hopefully everyone was able to enjoy the warm weather and sun during Spring Break! Also, thanks to everyone who attended conferences and the Book Fair. It was a great time to connect with families before the stretch run of another amazing school year. Not much in the way of notes this week:

  • Finish Strong: Our Mindful Monday tip tomorrow for students is about finishing strong. We’ll continue to emphasize the importance of it throughout the rest of the year, especially in May. But even right now we want students to know that we still have two months this year to make a difference, so let’s make the most of it!
  • After School Plans: As the weather warms up, more students are excited to be outside in the fresh air and sun. That includes wanting to walk home. As we’ve noted throughout the year, this is great for multiple reasons, and spring is a perfect time to practice those walking home skills. However, please first have the conversation with your child, and have a plan in place with them before the school day (for example, “It’s going to be nice today, walk home,” or “It’s likely going to rain today, so I’ll pick you up.”). If needed, connect with their teacher by email so that they are aware of any changes in routine. Finally, walk/bike the route with your child a couple of times prior to having them do it so that they feel comfortable and confident!

Thanks again for the continued partnership! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
