Principal Message

SGR Families,

Welcome to March (almost)! The weather forecast this week looks much better and warmer than the last week or two, which will be awesome. We’ve been stuck with inside recess recently, which gets to be LONG for many kids after a couple of days. Hopefully all of our kids are taking advantage of the warm weather this weekend and getting outside for sun and fresh air!

It’s an exciting week this week as we Read Across America! We have some fun dress up days tied to some books, starting with a hat day tomorrow. The rest of the list, and some other notes, are below:

  • Read Across America Week: Check out the link for the list of days this week. We especially had some great sharing on culture day last year, and hope for more of the same this year!
  • Winter Fun DayAs we shared late last week, we rescheduled our annual sledding day to this Friday.
  • eLearning/snow days: Well, after a rough February we have hit our maximum allowed eLearning days within the district. Any cancellations we have the rest of the year due to weather will be treated as standard “Snow Days”, with make up days planned for later in the spring, likely at the end of the year.
  • MCA Testing: Our 3rd/4th grade students will have MCA testing again this spring. We’ll send out more information closer to the testing dates, but wanted to share the rough timeline of dates now as an FYI:
  • Week of April 4 - third grade reading
  • Week of April 11 - fourth grade reading
  • Week of April 18 - third grade math
  • Week of April 25 - fourth grade math
  • Week of May 2 - make up week (if not previously completed)

Thanks again for everything you do! Let’s make it an awesome week!

Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Nagel, principals
