SGR Families,

Wow, January is ending, which means we’re 1/12 of the way through 2022. February should be an exciting month!

  • Covid Updates: Starting on Monday, January 31, elementary students identified as a close contact who have had Covid shots will not need to quarantine if they do not have symptoms. Students who have not had Covid shots and are identified as a close contact in school will be able to stay in school with family consent to the Covid testing protocol. Students who are symptomatic will receive rapid antigen testing and follow appropriate procedures. Starting on Monday, February 14, masking will become optional for everyone at all elementary schools.
  • Kids Heart Challenge! February is the perfect month to focus on our hearts with the American Heart Association! All SGR students will have the opportunity to participate in the online Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) starting February 7th. A parent letter will be sent home on Thursday, February 3rd with more detailed information. Kids Heart Challenge has an App as well. All donations will be collected ONLINE ONLY so please do not send any money to school with your child. All thank you gifts earned will be sent home with your child AFTER February 28th when the fundraiser ends. We have included a video you can watch to show you how to register. Look at the Save the Date flier Here! If you have any questions you can contact Mrs. Weaver at lweaver@moorheadschools.org.
  • Sledding Day 2022: We’re excited to announce the return of our favorite winter celebration day, Sledding Day! We will spend the day shuttling classes to/from Riverview Estates Park in Moorhead for an awesome day of sledding to celebrate great behavior at school. We haven’t locked down an official date yet, but it will be in February. Once we have a date, we’ll be sure to share with families. And yes, we’d love to have some parents in attendance!

Please continue to be mindful of the weather, as it seems we might have a system moving through early this week. Kids should have their winter gear every day, and they should come to school every morning knowing their after school plan (bus, walk, car ride, driver, which door, etc.) so they can leave school confidently each day!

Have an awesome day!

Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Nagel, principals
