A Message from Our School Counselor

Our November Theme :   WISDOM

During November, we focused on the importance of having wisdom.

When we live with wisdom, we seek to learn all that we can in a respectful manner and take the time to reflect on our teachings.

This month we talked about how important it is to be safe in the hallways.  We respect others by thinking of their safety as well as our own.

A wise person knows their gifts and shares them with their community.  Last week, we joined other schools in Moorhead, Fargo and West Fargo and shared our gifts with our community by bringing in non perishable food items to help families who find themselves needing help this season. The food items were collected by Moorhead High School students and distributed to area food pantries.  It’s wise to share our gifts and take care of others.

This week starts in November and ends in December.  Looking ahead to December, we will be talking about HUMILITY.  To be humble is to demonstrate sensitivity to others and not put yourself or your needs above others.  Putting others first and yourself second is a great way to show HUMILITY!

In grades K-1, we are talking about how we can recognize how someone is feeling by looking at their facial expressions and the way they are holding their bodies.  We can tell if someone is feeling different feelings by stopping what we are doing and noticing others.

We can get along better with others if we can be humble and not judge others.  Everyone makes mistakes and we often feel similar to others when mistakes happen.  We can all learn from our mistakes and understand each other better when we humble ourselves to think of how others may be feeling.
