Principal Message

SGR Families,

Thank you for an awesome first week of school! We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. We have a handful of notes as we start week two:

  • Gym Shoes - Students should either wear or bring shoes that work for PE class every day. Grade K-2 students are in the gym every day, and Grade 3-4 students are in there five out of every six days. Wear or bring them every day, thanks!

  • Birthday treats - Please do NOT send any birthday treats to school with your child. Between allergies and our wellness policy, it just doesn’t work well. Our teachers will still recognize your child’s birthday in the classroom, but please don’t send treats.

  • Meal Menus - Our meal menu throughout our school and all of the other elementary schools is pork free. There is not pork in any item, including hot dogs, sausages, and pepperoni. Also, we’ll serve meatless main courses during lent next spring.

  • Breakfast - It is free to all students and served every morning from 7:30-7:55, so students who want can grab one every morning.

  • Doors - Remember, our doors are locked until 7:30 am every morning. We don’t have staff working before that time, so they won’t be unlocked before that time, even on rainy, snowy, or cold days. Please be prepared and make accommodations as needed.

  • Parking Lots - As many of you have seen, our lots are busy before and after school. Roughly 70% of our students are considered “walkers”, and we’d encourage them, and you, to take advantage of this opportunity and walk to/from school. It helps our kids learn some independence, and saves you some headaches.

  • Activity Fees - There is a $10/student Activity Fee for the school year. Please go to eFunds to pay your fee, or drop off a check in the main office.

  • Field Trips - As of right now, we’re okay to go on outdoor field trips! Please log into PowerSchool and complete the annual registration information to indicate whether or not you consent to field trips.

We can’t wait for another amazing week!
