May News

SGR Families,

Happy May! It’s a busy month, so we’ll get to it!

  1. MCAs are done! Our third and fourth grade students worked hard to complete these tests and we’re excited that they are done.

  2. May is full of events, including some in which we can invite parents! We’re super excited to have parents, but we still need to be Covid Safe. Please watch this video hear all of the expectations, which include: 1-2 adults MAX per kid, masks, distanced, etc

  3. The biggest events are Games to Go and Field Day for all students, and then our States Fair and Clap Out for our 4th grade students. Some teachers might have individual events as well and will note that in their communications.

  4. It’s been awesome to see more kids walking to/from school recently, as well as biking, scootering and rollerblading! As we’ve mentioned previously, this is a great way for students to get some good movement, as well as teaching some independence. Not only that, but it saves you from having to drop off or pick up! The temperature is warming up, and the fresh air is good for a learning brain!

  5. Our monthly theme and focus for May is Finishing Strong. This topic will be our focus in principal videos and classroom morning meetings. Our counselor lessons will focus on our jobs of finding ways to finish the school year strong. Weekly words that will be referenced that are related to this monthly theme are: grit, achieve, reflecting on goals, and legacy. Please help us spread this message of finishing strong by asking your child about it at home.

Finally, our annual student information form is attached. We feel strongly that we know your child, or children, really well. At the same time, though, we always appreciate any information from home that can assist us with placing students next year. If you’d like, fill out the optional form by the end of the month.
