Happy Spring (almost?)

   Our April Theme: Truth

We have been practicing the Seven Grandfather Teachings throughout the 2022-23 school year. Each month we highlight one teaching. This month we are highlighting Truth.

Our seventh and last Grandfather Teaching is the teaching of Truth.  It is true that all of the Grandfather Teachings are an important way of living life to the fullest considering not only ourselves but all other living creatures.  It takes patience to employ all of the Grandfather Teachings of:

  • Courage

  • Wisdom

  • Humility

  • Honesty

  • Love

  • Respect

  • Truth

The animal that represents Truth is the turtle.  The turtle carries her home on her back much like we can carry all of the Grandfather Teachings with us throughout our lives.  The shell of the turtle represents the body of real events as created by the Higher Power and serves as a reminder of the Creator’s will and teachings.

The turtle is one of the slowest moving creatures on Earth, however it is her that seems to make it to her destination no matter the length of time it may take her.  We all strive to develop the Grandfather Teachings of courage, wisdom, humility, honesty, love, respect and truth in our own time, some more fully than others.

It is our hope that students not only learn to read, write and do math at school, but that they also learn these important values which will help them become the best versions of themselves, treating all living creatures, as well as themselves, with love and compassion.
