Principal Message

SGR Families,

Spring is maybe on the way finally?!?! It’ll be great to have temps in the 40s, provided early forecasts hold. We have a ton of snow at school just like everywhere else, though, so it’s going to take a while for it to melt. Unless it is raining we’re going to get the kids outside every day, so please continue to send winter gear until you hear otherwise from your teacher. Some related notes this week:

  • Recess Expectations: In Tuesday’s principal video we’re going to remind all students again about expectations when they are outside. Most kids/classes are doing well, but we have had a couple of things pop up recently and we’d like to get ahead of it. First, the snow is still a ton of fun (for most kids, even if us adults are ready to move on), but we need to be responsible. Play in it, build with it, and everything else, but no throwing it or tackling in it. It’s too easy for someone else to get hurt, usually due to ice, that we just would prefer to avoid it. Second, unless it is a game of tag being played well, hands, feet, and other objects should be kept to ourselves. Students should use De-Bugging as their first resort when frustrated. We’ve told the kids and our staff are mindful, so if you could help reinforce that message at home as well, we’d appreciate it!

  • No School: No School tomorrow, Monday, April 10. We also will not have school next week on Friday, April 21. These will be our last two days off the rest of the year!

  • Excel: Resumes this week, so plan on it if your child attends!

It’s going to be a great week!

Mr. St. Louis, principal
