Hopkins Attendance Team

It's Attendance Awareness Month!

The four heroes in this picture play many roles, one of them being supporting the attendance of students at Ellen Hopkins Elementary.

Your child's attendance is so important to us. We believe that a high-quality attendance rate correlates with student achievement. Each day counts!

Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career.

Often, students tend to miss school for various reasons. Missing a day or so every month doesn't seem like a big deal, but it can lead to a student becoming chronically absent. Chronic absences result in students missing learning opportunities and educational experiences.

We want to support you and do what we can to encourage our families to focus on the importance of school attendance with us.

  • A reminder that the school doors open at 7:20AM, and any students not in their classroom by 7:45AM will be marked tardy.
  • If your child is going to be absent for the day, please either enter your child's absence into PowerSchool or call the attendance line at 218-284-4301 before 9:00 AM the day of the absence.

We also have parent-teacher conferences in October, which is a great opportunity to talk about your child's attendance with the classroom teacher and discuss what we can do to support you.

We appreciate and value you.
