Mrs. Ellingson’s first grade class recently had some special visitors from Concordia College! Dietetics majors from Concordia visited the classroom to teach students about the importance of Vitamin A and how it helps keep our bodies healthy.
During the presentation, students learned about fruits and vegetables that are rich in Vitamin A and why making healthy food choices is important for growing bodies. The Concordia students shared fun and engaging information about how Vitamin A supports things like healthy vision and overall wellness.
The lesson ended with a hands-on tasting experience where students had the opportunity to sample a variety of Vitamin A–rich foods, including papaya, cantaloupe, carrots, and peppers. It was a great way for students to explore new flavors while learning about nutritious foods.
Thank you to the Concordia College dietetics students for sharing their knowledge and helping our first graders discover the benefits of making healthy choices!
