Moorhead Area Public Schools is proud to announce the district theme for the 2025-26 school year: “Foundations for the Future.”
This year, the district will complete the Moorhead High School Building Project. As we celebrate this historic project, we know that each foundation poured and brick laid is an investment in the future of our community, where our facilities are catalysts for learning. This theme represents far more than the completion of the MHS building project. It honors the vision, dedication and collective effort it takes to prepare students not only for the next grade or graduation but for the lives they will lead, the communities they will shape and the futures they will build.
Investing in Students
Over the past five years, we've seen walls go up, doors open and dreams take shape in the form of new and renewed learning spaces. But the most important foundation we've been building is not made of concrete or steel; it's made of students.
Every lesson taught, every conversation had, every opportunity created is part of the groundwork we’re laying to help students become thoughtful leaders, courageous problem-solvers, compassionate citizens and resilient humans. These students will go on to change our community and the world in ways we can only begin to imagine.
That’s the future we’re building. And it starts here.
Laying the Groundwork for What Comes Next
“Foundations for the Future” is both a celebration of what we’ve accomplished and a recommitment to the work ahead. It’s a recognition that we as staff, families and community members are part of something much bigger than ourselves. We are laying stones we may never walk on, but that future generations will.
This year, as we celebrate the completion of the new Moorhead High School, we are also preparing for the next phase of our shared investment. The school board is considering an upcoming levy campaign where we’ll be inviting our community to once again invest in the future, not in facilities, but in the students who will fill them with purpose and possibility.
We All Play a Role in Building the Future
Teachers, licensed staff and support staff spark passions and help students discover their voices.
Bus drivers, custodians and food service staff create the daily rhythm of care and safety.
Families and caregivers are trusted partners in each student’s journey.
And students themselves are the architects of their own future, bold, brilliant and full of potential.
Together, we get the exciting and humbling task of laying the foundation. Our role is to build what they will stand on because they will go farther than we ever will.

“Foundations for the Future” is a call to action and a celebration of hope. It reminds us that the true measure of our work is not in what we finish today, but in the lives we empower for tomorrow.
