Moorhead Adult Education began offering official GED Testing at Vista Center for Education to its test ready participants in May of 2018. Since that time, over 1000 hours of testing have been administered by the 3 certified proctors. There are 4 tests that must be passed to earn a GED diploma: Reasoning through Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Enrolled students first complete the customized work to prepare them for a particular exam, then pass the GED Ready practice exam, and finally register onsite to take the official exam.
In the summer of 2023, the Minnesota Legislature set aside dollars to pay for the first attempt for each of the official GED exams to qualifying Minnesota residents testing in Minnesota. This has been a tremendous boost for students who would otherwise find the $36/exam cost to be a barrier to completing their GED diploma. The funding is shared across the state and will eventually run out. Contact our office at 218.284.3460 to inquire if you may qualify and if this funding is still available.
